Office Manager

Real is an early-stage venture capital firm that backs entrepreneurs and builds the ecosystems in which they thrive. At Real, you will join a group of committed investors and dynamic operational staff who are the heart of building Canada’s booming startup ecosystems. As the team is growing quickly, we are on the hunt for a high energy, multi-tasker to fill the position of office manager.


      • Oversee all office operations
      • Keep the office organized and functioning smoothly
      • Support the COO with HR matters including onboarding of new employees, updating and maintaining office policies
      • Schedule team meetings and communicate with the team on internal matters
      • Plan in-house and off-site activities for the team
      • Manage relationships with suppliers, partners, caterers and Notman House staff
      • Plan and coordinate small and large events, including community, portfolio and investment-related conferences, meetings, workshops, and talks
      • Triage incoming emails

Qualifications & Skills:

      • University degree
      • Bilingual  
      • Strong ability to run simultaneous projects effectively
      • Interest in startups and technology
      • Positive attitude and outgoing personality
      • Organized and reliable, with excellent interpersonal skills
      • Attention to detail and ability to keep focused on the big picture
      • Resourceful
      • Experience in running events
      • Solid knowledge of Google suite and MS office

Marketing & Communications Assistant

Real Ventures is looking for a dynamic and well-rounded Marketing and Communications Assistant who loves marketing, social media and events as much as they love technology and the potential of startups to change the world. This is a fantastic opportunity for a bilingual student or new graduate who holds themselves to the highest standards but is also creative and willing to push boundaries and experiment with “guerilla marketing” tactics. Working under the guidance of the Director of Communications, the successful candidate will take charge of Real’s social media activity, develop relationships with influencers, increase engagement for our content, maintain our events roster, and help grow and engage our vibrant community through other marketing initiatives. This is a 3-month, part-time position (±20 hours per week), based in Montreal (with the possibility of extension).


      • Write, post, monitor and report on social media activity (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) using Hootsuite
      • Grow our community and build engagement for Real’s blog posts, events and other marketing/communications initiatives (marketing/SEO research, building backlinks, etc.)
      • Track tech community events in Montreal and Toronto and ensure our team is represented at the relevant ones
      • Attend events as a representative of Real Ventures
      • Contribute to research and writing of marketing materials (in French and English)
      • Other marketing-related tasks as they come up

Qualifications & Skills:

      • Impeccable writing skills in French and English
      • Undergraduate degree (or currently enrolled) in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, English/French literature or related field
      • Experience running social media campaigns/proven social media savvy
      • An interest in and knowledge of the startup/tech industry
      • Great research skills and ability to complete tasks on time
      • Ability to come up with big ideas and find relevant ways to build brand visibility online
      • Highly effective interpersonal and relationship building skills
      • An entrepreneurial spirit and creative mind
      • High degree of professionalism
      • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently
      • A strong social media presence on Twitter and other social networks (must be proficient with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, Quora)
      • Proficiency with WordPress an advantage
      • Strong skills in Microsoft Suite and Google apps
