Real Ventures is a Montreal-based seed stage Venture Fund investing in web and mobile startups. We are looking to add to our team at either the Analyst (entry) or Associate (some experience) levels.
A week in the life of the successful candidate might cover all or some of the following:
- Helping the partners evaluate a potential investment
- Helping our portfolio companies prepare for their next funding round
- Assisting on reporting to our Limited Partners
- Helping build our internal tools and knowledge bases
- Getting out in to the community to meet great candidates to join our companies
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in due diligence for potential investments (market research, competitive analysis, benchmarking, product evaluation, technical assessment and financial model review)
- Updating and maintaining our deal review system
- Monitoring existing investments (maintaining internal dashboard, reviewing financials and tracking issues. Maintaining internal file system)
- Helping prepare portfolio companies for follow-on funding (assistance with financial models, investor documents, investor intros, due diligence readiness)
- Assistance in quarterly portfolio valuation and reporting to Limited Partners
- Helping build our talent database (bench of great people to join the companies we back)
Skill / Experience Requirements:
- Preference for someone with a technical or software programming background
- Strong excel modeling skills a plus
- Bilingual (French / English) a plus
- Strong analytical skills

- Passion for new technologies – an active user of web and mobile applications
At the Associate Level (additional requirements):
- Previous experience (~2 – 4 Years) in a venture backed or private equity / venture capital role. Must have some prior equity based transaction experience
- Thoughtful about the ever changing web and mobile landscapes
- Strong network in the startup World
The Real investment team is small. You will be given lots of responsibility and help as needed, but to thrive in this role you will need to be able to drive yourself and move fast.
